Major life changes can leave you feeling unsteady even when they are necessary or ultimately positive. A divorce, career transition, new baby, relationship shift, family conflict, or other unexpected change can disrupt routines, identities, and relationships that once felt familiar. You may know intellectually that you will get through it while still feeling anxious, overwhelmed, disconnected, or unsure of what comes next.
I work with adults, couples, and parents navigating significant transitions, relationship difficulties, anxiety, depression, separation and divorce, parenting stress, and workplace or career concerns. My goal is to help you better understand what is happening beneath the surface while also developing practical ways to cope with what is happening right now. Therapy can be a place to strengthen resilience, make sense of painful patterns, and begin responding to difficult circumstances with greater clarity and confidence.
My clinical approach is grounded in attachment theory, with an emphasis on emotional safety, connection, and understanding how earlier relationships can shape the way we experience ourselves and others today. Together, we may explore the relational patterns, beliefs, and emotional responses that continue to influence your relationships and decisions. I also incorporate skills from Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) to help clients manage intense emotions, tolerate distress, communicate more effectively, and navigate difficult situations without becoming overwhelmed by them.
For couples and individuals facing separation or divorce, I bring extensive experience helping clients navigate both the emotional and practical complexity of major relationship transitions. Some clients are trying to repair a strained relationship; others are trying to determine what comes next or how to move through a separation in a healthier way. I work collaboratively to help clients reduce destructive patterns, communicate more clearly, establish healthier boundaries, and make thoughtful decisions for themselves and their families.
I also have significant experience working with parents, including new parents adjusting to the demands and identity changes that accompany parenthood. In addition, my earlier careers in law and financial services give me a particular understanding of professional pressure, workplace conflict, leadership demands, and major career decisions. I work with professionals and executives who may appear highly capable on the outside while privately struggling with stress, uncertainty, relationship strain, or questions about the direction of their lives.
I have also completed training through The Family Peace Initiative and remain committed to supporting individuals and families affected by domestic violence. When safety is a concern, therapy must begin with careful attention to each client’s circumstances, needs, and well-being.
Bianca Milliern is licensed in Texas (#86351) and Florida (#MH13206), is certified in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and brings more than 14 years of private-practice experience to her work. She earned her Master of Science in Counseling Psychology from Palm Beach Atlantic University and completed her graduate internship at the university’s counseling center. Before becoming a therapist, Bianca worked as an attorney and later in financial services, where she obtained Series 7 and 66 licensure. Her clinical interests include relationship and couples therapy, separation and divorce, parenting, adjustment to major life changes, anxiety, depression, workplace conflict, and executive career concerns.
You may know what you believe and still find yourself struggling to live the way you want to live. Maybe anxiety or fear keeps taking over, anger is affecting your relationships, depression has left you feeling stuck, or you and your spouse keep falling into the same patterns despite your best efforts to change them. You may even wonder why your faith hasn’t made these struggles easier. Knowing what is true and knowing how to experience meaningful change are not always the same thing.
I work with individuals and couples who want practical help understanding what keeps them stuck and learning how to respond differently. For clients who desire it, I integrate Christian faith with evidence-based therapy so that psychological insight and biblical wisdom can work together rather than feeling like competing approaches. My goal is not simply to tell you what you should do or believe, but to help you understand the patterns underneath your struggles and develop practical ways to create lasting change.
That distinction is personal to me. Early in my own marriage, I had a discouraging experience with Christian counseling in which a complicated struggle was essentially met with, “What you’re doing is a sin. Stop it.” I left believing there had to be more to meaningful Christian counseling than simply telling hurting people what they were doing wrong. That experience helped shape the kind of therapist I wanted to become: one who takes both faith and psychological science seriously and helps clients apply them to the realities of everyday life.
For couples, good intentions and love for one another don’t always prevent disconnection. You may try to communicate only to discover that your partner heard something completely different from what you intended. The result can be defensiveness, frustration, hurt, or the same argument happening again and again. I help couples slow down these patterns, understand what is happening underneath their interactions, and learn healthier ways to communicate, connect, and respond to one another.
My approach considers the whole person. Emotional and relational problems rarely exist in only one part of our lives, so therapy may involve understanding how your body responds to stress, how your thoughts influence your behavior, how you experience and regulate emotions, how you relate to other people, and, when desired, how your relationship with God and your spiritual life intersect with these experiences.
Depending on your needs, I draw from evidence-based approaches including EMDR, biofeedback, and Internal Family Systems (IFS)-informed guided imagery, along with interventions addressing thoughts, emotions, behavior, and relationships. I work with concerns including anxiety, depression, anger, relationship difficulties, spiritual concerns, and patterns that continue despite your efforts to change them.
For Christian clients, faith integration can include exploring Scripture, spiritual beliefs, and your relationship with God as meaningful parts of the therapeutic process. I believe Christian counseling should be a place where difficult questions, painful emotions, doubt, failure, and relationship struggles can be discussed honestly and without condemnation. Faith integration is based on each client’s preferences and goals.

How Couples Therapy in Frisco Can Help
Couples often come to therapy because they find themselves having the same arguments without resolution, feeling increasingly disconnected, or struggling to communicate about important issues. Others may be working through a specific challenge such as infidelity, intimacy concerns, parenting disagreements, or a major life transition.
At Stanford Couples Counseling, our Frisco therapists help couples understand the patterns underlying these difficulties rather than simply focusing on the latest disagreement. Couples therapy can provide a place to slow down those patterns, better understand one another, and develop healthier ways of communicating and responding.
You don’t need to wait until your relationship is in crisis to begin counseling. Couples counseling can also help partners strengthen their connection, navigate transitions, prepare for marriage, or address concerns before they become more entrenched.
Our approach is tailored to the needs of each couple. Whether you’re seeking marriage counseling for a long-term relationship or couples therapy for a newer partnership, the goal is to help you understand what’s keeping you stuck and work toward meaningful, lasting change.
