Eden Taylor, Counseling Intern
I believe that beneath our many differences, all humans share a deep longing for purpose and an awareness of life’s impermanence. When our lives align with our core values, we can live more fully and embrace even life’s uncertainties. But when we feel disconnected from what truly matters, it’s easy to slip into autopilot, detached from meaning and direction.
As a counselor, my goal is to help you explore the experiences, relationships, and belief systems—both conscious and unconscious—that have shaped your values and worldview. Together, we’ll clarify what resonates most with your unique needs and goals and work toward building a life rooted in authenticity and intentionality. Our work may explore themes of purpose, identity, connection, and how we relate to life’s inevitable transitions, including loss and mortality.
While my approach is grounded in Existential therapy, which emphasizes meaning-making, personal responsibility, and living fully in the present, I integrate a range of therapeutic modalities tailored to each client. In session, I strive not only to discuss challenges but to confront them directly as they arise, making use of the present moment.
When working with couples, I primarily draw on Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT). This attachment-based model helps partners recognize and shift negative interaction patterns, express their core emotional needs, and rebuild emotional connection. I also incorporate techniques from the Gottman Method, a research-based approach that strengthens relationships by improving communication, managing conflict, and fostering shared meaning. Together, these models provide a robust framework for helping couples repair disconnection, deepen intimacy, and build resilience.
Eden is a graduate student in the Master of Science in Counseling program at Southern Methodist University, expected to graduate in December 2025. Her clinical interests include individual and couples counseling, with a focus on relationships and trauma-informed care. Prior to pursuing counseling, Eden spent 14 years in public relations and marketing, supporting consumer, nonprofit, and public health initiatives through strategic storytelling. Most recently, she supported sales efforts for programmatic and technology consulting with Medicaid agencies at Accenture. Before that, she led integrated communications campaigns for a global philanthropy in Austin, amplifying the reach and impact of programs serving low-income children and families. With a professional foundation in public sector marketing, philanthropic storytelling, and mission-driven media relations, Eden brings a deep understanding of how to communicate with empathy, clarity, and purpose—skills she now channels into her work as an emerging counselor.
